Workshop: AI-based research and research assistants

Workshop organised by Berlin University Library on how to (not) use text generation tools for your research.

Automated language processing and language generation not only play a role in text production, but are also increasingly being integrated into various research tools. They enable the visualisation of thematic connections and citation paths and support the evaluation of literature through automated summaries. In this workshop, you will learn how to (not) use text generation tools for your research. You will get to know different types of AI-based research assistants (Artificial Intelligence Research Assistants) and discuss their added value and limitations for research and literature analysis.

Contents:

  • Types of search tools and writing environments with AI integration
  • Research with AI-supported tools
  • Literature analysis with AI-supported tools

Learning objectives:

  • You will be familiar with various AI-supported search tools.
  • You will be able to carry out AI-supported research and assess the results in terms of their scientific nature and trustworthiness.
  • You will be able to apply criteria for selecting suitable research tools with AI integration according to your information requirements.
