Efficient Information Retrieval – Part II
AI Workshop: Data Preparation and Advanced RAG Techniques.
On July 15, 2026, the AI Service Center Berlin-Brandenburg @ HPI continues its four-part series with "Efficient Information Retrieval – Part II" in Potsdam. While the first session established the basics, this workshop focuses on scaling RAG systems to handle the complexities of real-world data, such as unstructured content, various file formats, and large volumes that often compromise response quality.
The session deep dives into advanced methods for building reliable Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems. Participants will explore sophisticated techniques including chunking strategies, multi-query retrieval, and re-ranking. Furthermore, the workshop introduces cutting-edge concepts like Graph RAG—building knowledge graphs from private documents—and the systematic evaluation of system performance using metrics such as Precision@K and Recall@K. These methods will be applied hands-on using realistic datasets.
This workshop is designed for individuals with practical experience in RAG systems or those who attended Part I of the series, providing the technical foundation for human-in-the-loop optimization in Part III.
