Efficient Information Retrieval – Part I
In-person workshop introducing retrieval-augmented generation and AI-powered information retrieval.
The workshop “Efficient Information Retrieval – Part I” will take place on August 19, 2026 at the Hasso Plattner Institute in Potsdam. Organized by the AI Service Center Berlin-Brandenburg @ HPI, the session provides an introduction to retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and shows how AI systems can work with an organization’s own data sources.
The workshop focuses on how information from PDFs, folder structures, or internal documentation can be found and used more efficiently. Traditional AI chatbots quickly reach their limits when they cannot access relevant data or when sensitive content should not be shared with external providers.
The three-hour in-person workshop introduces the fundamentals and practical potential of RAG systems. Participants will gain a hands-on understanding of AI-powered information retrieval and how internal knowledge sources can be made accessible for AI applications in a more secure and structured way.
