AI, War and Digital Conflict Spaces
Conversation on AI, social media, and digital influence in modern conflicts.
The conversation “AI, War and Digital Conflict Spaces” will take place on September 21, 2026 at the Humboldt Labor in Berlin. Part of the SCRIPTS Short Talks series, the event explores how social media, platform logics, and artificial intelligence shape contemporary conflicts, crises, and forms of digital violence.
The focus is on digital platforms as strategic arenas in international conflicts. Social media no longer functions merely as a communication channel, but also as a tool for mobilization, propaganda, and escalation. AI systems intensify these dynamics by steering visibility, amplifying narratives, and enabling new forms of digital influence.
In conversation with moderator Katja Weber, Anita Gohdes, Professor of International Security and Cybersecurity at the Hertie School, will discuss how digital infrastructures shape modern wars and what this means for democratic societies. The event also asks how security can be protected without placing further pressure on civil liberties.
