Training intercultural communication with XR and AI – A practical case study from "Dialog XR".

On May 11, 2026, the AI Service Center Berlin-Brandenburg and the IHK Potsdam will host the AI RoundTable at the Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI) in Potsdam. As international teams become the norm, this event provides hands-on insights into how Extended Reality (XR) and conversational AI can be combined to train intercultural communication skills within realistic, immersive environments.

The session features the practical project "Dialog XR". Speakers Julian Kamphausen and Karin Kießling will present the technological and pedagogical framework behind the tool and conduct a live demo showing how XR and AI work together in a GDPR-compliant manner. Participants will learn how learners interact with AI-driven avatars to receive structured feedback on their communication styles.
