AI in Medical Care – A Gamechanger?

Online discussion on the opportunities, limitations, and ethical challenges of AI in healthcare, from diagnostics and treatment to improving access to medical services.

The healthcare system faces growing challenges, including hospital closures, shortages of medical professionals, and limited access to care, particularly in rural areas. At the same time, artificial intelligence offers new possibilities for prevention, diagnostics, treatment, and patient care.

The online discussion “AI in Medical Care – A Gamechanger?”, organized by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation's Political Education Forum Brandenburg, explores whether AI can help address gaps in healthcare provision and improve access to medical services.

Medical ethicist Alena Buyx, physician and health policy expert Michael Schierack, and Uwe Platzbecker, Medical Director of Dresden University Hospital, will discuss current applications, future opportunities, and the limitations and risks of AI in medicine. The conversation will also address the political and ethical frameworks needed to ensure that technological progress benefits patients and healthcare professionals.
