Symposium: AI and Truth
AI calculates probabilities, not truth. But what does that mean for our understanding of truth when an increasing share of content is no longer clearly of human origin? Experts from academia and practice discuss how standards of credibility are evolving in the age of AI.
Symposium: KI und Wahrheit takes place on 16 November 2026 and brings together experts from journalism, academia, memorial education, and the AI industry to discuss the growing impact of artificial intelligence on public discourse. As AI-generated texts, images, voices, and conversations become increasingly common, established criteria for assessing credibility and authenticity are being challenged.
The event opens with a keynote by journalist and author Mads Pankow, who examines how social media and AI are transforming perceptions of credibility. A subsequent panel discussion explores questions surrounding truth, AI-generated content, misinformation, content labeling, data poisoning, and digital trust.
Designed for researchers, journalists, AI professionals, policymakers, educators, students, and anyone interested in the societal implications of AI, the symposium offers an opportunity to engage with current debates and network with experts from different disciplines. The program concludes with an informal get-together.
