The Berliner Initiative für Forschung im Bereich Foundation Models (Appl-FM) at Berliner Hochschule für Technik develops application-oriented foundations for foundation models in robotics, quantitative biology and predictive medicine. It researches continual learning, visual and spatial pattern recognition, motion recognition, robustness, fairness, explainability, and the learning and adaptation of text data. The methods are intended to enable self-learning robots, automated microscopy and medical decision support, addressing challenges in the workplace, cell research and diagnostics.
